Since 1986, Metro East Humane Society (MEHS) has worked tirelessly to enrich the lives of people and their pets in the Metro East suburbs of St. Louis. We operate a no-kill shelter; provide humane medical treatment, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services; educate adults and youth on the humane treatment of animals; and build partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, public institutions, private corporations, and elected officials. In 2025, MEHS took in 986 cats and is proud of the 897 cats that were placed in their forever homes. While pets are in our care, waiting for their happy-ever-after, we focus on both their physical and emotional well-being, including some of the creature comforts and enrichment activities.
