Questions We Get
What does it cost?
Nothing. There is no fee to run a campaign. Donations pay for the boxes, and we ship them.
Which rescues can we support?
Any rescue in the Give a Cat a Box program. Browse them here. If the rescues you work with aren't listed yet, it's free for them to join. Tell us who they are and we'll reach out, or send them our way.
Do we need a website?
No. Most partners just share their page link and a QR code. The website embed is there if you want it.
Do we handle any money?
No. Donations go through secure checkout on our side, and we ship the boxes. You never collect, hold, or send money.
What happens to donations over $150?
They roll over to the next rescue in your lineup, so every dollar goes toward a box.
Who sees donor information?
You see each donor's name, amount, and dedication. Donors who'd rather stay anonymous show as Anonymous, and you only get the email addresses of donors who opt in to hear from you.
Are donations tax-deductible? Can donors get a tax receipt?
Hide & Scratch is a small business, not a nonprofit, so we can't issue tax receipts for campaign donations. The rescue that receives the boxes may be able to, especially for a larger gift. Rescues don't automatically get campaign donors' details, so a donor who wants a receipt should reach out to the rescue directly. Not every rescue is a registered 501(c)(3), and tax treatment depends on each donor's situation, so they should check with their tax advisor.
How long does a campaign run?
As long as you like. Run it for one event, or keep it going all year.
